{OOTD} Newest Internship

Yesterday, I ended up going to the mall to return a product I bought from Sephora last month. After getting my cash back and browsing around, I decided to pick up a few new items :3

Blouse: Dynamite

Pants: Dynamite

Flats: Spring Shoes

Wallet: Aldo Accessories

Yeah, I’m pretty sure 90% of my closet comes from Dynamite, lol. But I couldn’t pass up the pants! $20! And they fit really nice too :) I’m actually starting a new internship with the government this month, so I needed dressier clothes for that. I feel that this semester is going to be a busy one– two internships, M.A thesis, and a language exam {Russian}. Holy moly!

To complete the look, I used Urban Decay’s Naked palette {which i’m completely obsessed with!}. Colours I used in this look include: Virgin, Sin, Naked, Toasted, and Darkhorse.

Okay, I’m off to fix an early dinner. I think Ken and I are going to try and catch a movie this evening {I love getting movie tickets for Christmas!} :) If we had a home dlp projector, we wouldn’t need to face the bitter cold. -29 degrees? Nooo thank you!

On days like today {+ Giveaway Winner}

It’s been raining non-stop in the last few days {and I totally don’t mind! I love the rain!} and other than paper writing, I haven’t had a whole lot to do {that involves going outside, anyway}… It’s actually quite nice for a change. What have I been up to?

Well… in the last few days, I’ve been looking a lot like this:

AE hoodie and yoga pants. Okayyyy, i’m lying. Sometimes, I switch it up and jump into a warm fuzzy set of {holiday} pjs. It’s been great ;) I’ve been getting a fair bit of work done on this research paper as well, which again, is good. After this is done and over with, I plan on tackling the “big T,” also known as the THESIS *gag*.

Okay, this is probably the most random, 0 in value, post ever published, but I felt like procrastinating a little ;) And it was a good time to announce the winner of my Xperience Days $50 giftcard giveaway!

Congrats, Cinda!

XO.

{Daily Life} My work space

Organized space = organized mind is a motto that I live by. In order to concentrate and have a good day, I feel as if my surroundings need to be well organized– things need to be in their proper place, the bed needs to be made, the sun has to be beaming in through the windows. If things are everywhere, my brain is a huge mess {and then I tend to stay in my pjs all day watching Sex & the City re-runs}. Can anyone relate?

Anyway, it’s about that time of the semester my degree that I get busy with my thesis *groan*, so I decided to make a few changes to my “work space.” At the beginning of the semester, I would use my office on campus quite a bit; but now, I’ve grown to loathe it {I share it with a few other M.A students and, sometimes, it’s hard to concentrate in there}. Wanna see?

A few things I got from Russia this summer: mini Russian flag, Saint Petersburg calendar, and my Russia/Soviet matryoshka doll

And here’s my baby pile of library books for my thesis. I have so many more… plus a few folders full of .pdfs on my computer. Pure sexiness, no?

Check out my Europe/travel collage. I started this in early 2009 when I just came back from traveling western/central Europe. I added a bunch of post-cards from Russia to the right side earlier this evening :)

Lastly, here’s a few office supplies: sticky notes, mini stapler, markers, tape, notepad, paper clips etc. Also pictured is my cosmetic case from Tiffany & Co. {which I plan on using as a pencil case of some sort… I think} and my LUSH massage bar that I bought in Russia.

That’s it… I’m rather dorky, I know 8). I’m actually going to make this one of those tagging posts simply because I’m nosey and want to see everyone’s work spaces ;) SO, I’m tagging Erica, Nancy, and my lovely sponsor Brittnie– but if you have a blog feel free to share your work space with me!

Life Recap + OOTD

Firstly, thank-you all for your kind words on my engagement! This has been the best week I’ve had in ages {by far!}. So many good things have happened– and all during a time when I was full of self-doubt. I’ve been working so hard lately {at trying to find a job, at my research, in my classes, law school applications etc.} and it just felt like I was doing it all for nothing at times. Let me recap this awesome week!

Monday: Received a $1,280 grant for school; Received an e-mail about a potential internship; Received an email telling me that I won this month’s Luxe Lotto {omgosh, I am so beyond excited for this!}.

Tuesday: I got engaged to my best friend!

Wednesday: I was invited to a special lunch with very special faculty members, the dean, an internationally-known businessman, and the ambassador to the Russian Federation. It was a small lunch at a 5 star restaurant {ahhh!}. Three course meal, I had my very own name card/place, and they were all super interested in my research {or at least, they pretended to be! Haha}. And oh! I officially scored that internship I was talking about!

It’s just been great! And to end this post off, I want to post what I wore yesterday. It’s a pretty casual outfit, but I plan on dressing the top up next time with this new long black blazer I bought ;)

Top: Dynamite

Jeans: American Eagle

Belt: Dynamite

Shoes: Spring

Necklace: Tiffany & Co. {although you can’t see it very well}

How I stay organized

For weeks now, I’ve been mentally keeping track of research paper due dates, law school applications, LSAT stuff, job/internship deadlines, social events, volunteer work etc.– It’s just been crazy. So earlier this week, I went out an bought an agenda at Chapters {even though I bought one in February… but I got sick of it, oops!}.

Once I got home, I realized that I purchased a 2012 agenda that didn’t have the last few months of 2011. @$%*&!. Oh well. I really liked the designs on the agenda and how small it was…so erm yeah, I decided to keep it.

No worries though, I just went in the back of the agenda {to the October-January 2012 months} and changed the dates to fit 2011. I’m sure by this time next year, I’ll have a new one anyway :3

What exactly am I keeping track of? Omgoodness, tons of stuff {basically everything thing but a Travel Counselor Jobs that I wish I had–lol}.

With so many deadlines approaching me, I needed something to keep me on track. I’ve also started making up weekly meal plans! I’ll post about that later on ;)

Questions: How to you stay organized? Do you use an agenda, your phone, or another method? Do you write up meal plans?
