Move over age-old, wardrobe-staple LBD, its time for a fresh and invigorating new trend: the Little White Dress! That’s right, white dresses are hot for the spring and summer seasons this year, signifying elegance and simplicity in one pure shade.
And before you start thinking about all things bridal, don’t panic. We’ve got four subtle and sophisticated ways to wear white to give you that chic on-trend look, whatever the occasion.
Colourful white If you’re not brave enough to don an all-white dress, why not wear something with an extra splash of colour, or even an off-white shade. A bold floral print or pretty embellishment on a white dress will give your LWD a feminine touch and is also great if your skin type doesn’t suit a stark white shade. Look to Cheryl Cole for inspiration, who recently wore this stunning white one-shoulder top with a cream pencil skirt.
Feminine and floaty For a simple girly look, light floaty dresses with loose fitting skirts are perfect. Taylor Swift recently wore a Grecian style LWD, with a gorgeous corset style bodice and floaty white ruffle skirt. Paired with nude platforms and a soft youthful hair-do, this stylish look is ideal for summer parties and celebrations.
White maxi dresses Maxi dresses are back for the summer, and this time why not wear yours in white? A simple white maxi dress will look stunning on the beach, and is easy to pair with a colourful bikini and matching oversized-bag. Or wear yours with gladiator sandals and a glitzy belt for an effortless evening look. Lana Del Rey did just that by pairing her white maxi with bold matching silver accessories.
Smart and sophisticated A white bodycon or smart fitted dress can fit perfectly into your work-wear wardrobe, keeping this trend alive whatever you’re doing. Add a smart coloured blazer and matching heels for the office, or nude accessories if you’re working this as a formal look.
I’m so glad the long weekend has finally arrived! This week felt like it was never going to end! But at last, the weekend is here and I’m more than ready to relax a little. What is everyone doing this weekend? Are you going anywhere or doing anything special?
Anyway, on to my new weekly feature– “#OOTD Around Ottawa!”
This week, we are featuring the wonderful Kelly! I love Kelly’s laid back, unique style! If you check out her fashion blog, Enter Kelly, you will find pages upon pages of her outfits– each outfit being quite different from the rest! And the best thing? All of her outfits look super comfortable and “do-able!”

As much as I love blogging, BOY– it was great to take a little break! Now that I’m back and refreshed, let’s move on to a fashion/style post, shall we? ;)
A few weeks ago, I came up with an interesting feature for Fresh-Season.com: the “#OOTD Around Ottawa” series! Each Friday, I will be highlighting an OOTD (outfit of the day) from Ottawa’s most fashionable women! They range from government employees, to bloggers, to university students– each being completely unique! I hope you enjoy these posts… remember to give it a “thumbs up” and/or leave a comment if you do! Feedback, as you know, is more than appreciated!
To kick off Fresh-Season.com’s new “#OOTDAround Ottawa” series, I decided to showcase one of my favourite fashion bloggers here in the city– Marilou Moles of Twenty York Street! Marilou’s sense of style has not gone unnoticed here in Ottawa. She has been regularly published and/or featured at: Ottawa Citizen, Daytime Ottawa, WHERE Ottawa, Ottawa Valley Moms, FAJO Magazine, FAVE, BHBB Ottawa, and the Next Big Thing Magazine.

I am SO happy to have stumbled upon Lancôme’s Bienfait Multi-Vital moisturizing cream last weekend! I’ve been using it ever since– morning and night! And trust me, this is a huge change for me as I rarely ever moisturize (*gasp*, I know!). It usually takes me 20 minutes to complete my make-up each morning, so I rarely moisturize because hey… I’m lazy and 20 minutes is enough, right?
But this stuff is worththe extra two minutes!!! Why? Well…
For starters, like most moisturizers, it hydrates your skin. According to Sephora, this particular moisturizer contains a combination of vitamins E, CG, and B5, and a high potency of moisturization for 25-hour ideal hydration. I’m no skin expert, but I do know that this cream leaves my skin feeling extra soft and I find it to be pretty light weight. Did you know Bienfait Multi-Vital cream has a SPF of 30? Normally, I’m not really concerned about sun protection in my cosmetics (I probably should though!); but this is a great bonus for all of us– especially in the summer months!
The best thing I found about this moisturizer is that it acts as a facial primer of some sort (now, I’m not sure if this is just me; as Lancome doesn’t claim it to be a primer). Lately, my go-to primer (Tarte’s Clean Slate flawless 12h primer) has not been doing its job very well (for my foundation, I use Lancome’s Teint Idole Ultra 24H). But since using Bienfait Multi-Vital cream, I’ve noticed that my foundation lasts much longer throughout the day! Not joking. It’s amazing. And primarily for this reason, I highly suggest giving Bienfait Multi-Vital a try!
Do you wear moisturizer? What is your go-to moisturizer?
My favourite foundation, by far, is Lancôme’s Teint Idole Ultra 24H. I’ve been using it religiously since last September. Well, today I finally ran out (which is quite amazing since I wear this stuff daily. It lasted quite a while!). After work, I decided to stop by the Rideau Centre and pick up a new bottle. Normally, I purchase most of my beauty products at Sephora (hello VIB points!), but I was feeling a little lazy today and just popped into the Bay instead.
…And I’m super glad that I did! After purchasing my foundation, the lady at the check-out informed me that I get a FREE gift from Lancôme! I was thinking that I was getting a free miniature lipgloss or something; but nope, I received so so much more! Look–
The Lancôme Gift Set includes:
A Lancôme make-up bag – Daily moisturizing cream – BiFacial Double Action Eye Makeup Remover – Advanced Skin Corrector – Lipstick in “Love it” – Hypnose Star Mascara – Blush in “Rose Romantique” – Eye Shadow Palette
How amazing is that? You can get a FREE Lancôme gift set too! You just need to spend over $35 (details HERE). Happy shopping!
I am so thankful that it’s raining today. I’m just getting a little tired of the snow and cold– I just want winter to be done and over with! The combination of rainfall (one of my favourite things!!!) and slightly warmer temperatures have put me in a good mood this morning. It gets me excited about spring! Which reminds me, I really need to buy a new umbrella– a big umbrella (since I’m always getting wet with the little ones). Which umbrella is your favourite? I love the first and last one!
Today, I happily wore more bright colours and prints. I love adding belts to most of my blouses now! It adds an extra something, I think. And yes, the blazer worn below is from Suzy Shier ($35). It’s actually a wardrobe staple of mine and I wear it at work quite often.
Blazer: Suzy Shier Blouse: Smart Set Pants: Material Girl Belt: GAP Watch: Michael Kors
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks! I’m off to make a late dinner (home-made pizza!) and watch Netflix before bed– It’s been a long, exhausting week! XO.
